Started watching Firefly...

...on the Metro this morning. Laptop abuse is fun. Anyway, I managed to get through about half of the first episode before I reached work. My thoughts:

1) There'll eventually be characters in this, right? Because right now it's got a bunch of cliches from Westerns, and that's about it.

2) This ain't B5. It ain't even Star Trek. I will admit, it's funnier than either, though.

3) Three gratuitous nude scenes in 45 minutes? Yep, this is Fox, all right.

4) There's no sound in space. That's awesome.

5) Unfortunately, there are horses. The two pretty much cancel out. The stupidity of bringing horses to your colony planets is just beyond words. Seriously, Joss, we get that it's a Western. We don't need the visual aids.

Still, if I judged a series by its first episode, I'd never have watched TNG. I'll give it the first disc or two and see if I like it any better.

I know, I know, I should have been using the commute for something constructive, but I'm completely blocked on DoAD, I already have all the notes I need for NaNoWriMo, and my other two projects... well, one I can't work on until I get a digital camera, and the other requires going through the Flash tutorials again so I can remember how to do everything, so I really need a good couple of hours in one place first.
